Weddings are a special occasion and one wants to be sure that all the bases are covered. Jewish christian interfaith wedding abounds with information as to how to go about preparing and seeking those answers that at first may be problematic. If a christian partner has consented to have one with a Jewish flavour, there are some details that require clarification and the best place to do just that is the Internet or a Rabbi.

Venue, venue, venue and where to have it and how it should take form. Orthodox synagogues is a no no as in Judaism a marriage of this sort is not allowed and is actually frowned upon. Be this as it may, this should not deter the couple and there are many that choose to have customs of their respective religions brought into the ceremony itself. This can take on many forms some of which are looked at here.

Venues are not difficult to find and there is not stipulated criteria of it as to where it must take place. Having an outside wedding is desirable and it is not difficult to erect a Chupah or canopy as is the custom. This basically is a prayer shawl hung up by four poles and it is customary for the couple to stand underneath it during the occasion.

It is a great way to get close friends and family involved as each pole is held by an individual. One can also make use of the custom in smashing a glass at the end of the ceremony commemorating the destruction of the temple of years gone by. Another custom is where the bride circles the groom seven times prior to commencement of prayers and blessings for the new couple.

An occasion is never without food to eat and drinks to drink. For those that do not know, there are laws that govern what a Jew can eat and what they cannot. All food must be kosher and especially bearing in mind that meat and milk dishes cannot be served together.

One does not have to concern oneself too much about this unless one wants to do further research. A caterer can be used who is recognised by a Beth Din or Court of Law and has the accreditation to carry out catering. Fish and meat may be served together so one will have to choose whether one will be having a fish and milk meal or a meat one with fish as a starter.

It is a day to be remembered always. Many choose to have their wedding celebrations at destinations far from home. This is a matter of choice although some guests will not make it however.

It is a day to be remembered and one that many may not condone but if there is love, then that is the perfect ingredient in wanting to get married and finally have children. With the years, many couples of this nature, include celebrating the different festivals from both religions in their practices at home. For example, kids will be encouraged to celebrate Chanuka and Christmas and in so doing, appreciate people and their practices from both faiths.
