Israel is considered a pivotal nation in global geopolitical issues. It has an interesting history as a nation and as a state. Its significance in politics and Christian theology also makes it a center of attention. However, Israel in prophecy has a futuristic perception and perspective. It is a look at how foreseers viewed the story of this nation and its significance in shaping events global issues.

The bible provides a strong foundation for Christians to adapt the tag of Israelis. This is from a biblical perspective that combines both the new and the Old Testament. It also has a historical perspective to it as the nation is constantly under threat from its neighbors. The ultimate goal is to see the restoration of the temple in Jerusalem which will see the unification of all Jews around the world and peace for the Israeli nation.

Interpretation of prophesies about Israel is the main cause and source of confusion. The tussle is on whether to interpret it directly or indirectly. The salvation that is promised to Israelis will come after the destruction of their enemies. Whether this is to happen physically or spiritually remains the question. It calls for careful consideration of the spiritual and biblical boundaries as understood from the historical context.

Jesus is central in the prophesies and promises made to Israelis. They expected that he would establish a real kingdom on earth that would be characterized by fairness and justice. His coming coincided with prophesies made about the savior. He however said that salvation would come during his return. The nation is still waiting for this return.

In the Old Testament, Daniel prophesied salvation when Israelis were in captivity. The description of seventy weeks of repentance has been computed such that the day of salvation falls in the current generation. Each week has been interpreted to mean a year when that scripture is read alongside others. The events happening today signify a near fulfillment of the promised salvation.

There was a lot of hope and expectation when Jesus first appeared on earth. According to early prophesies, he appeared at exactly the time that a savior was promised to arise. He performed miracles that made people believe that he was the chosen messiah. The voice that came from the clouds during his baptism was testament of his privileged position.

The events in the life of Jesus were largely foretold in the Old Testament. An example is where Jesus went to the synagogue, read a scripture and applied it to himself. His birth, life and death find similarities in forecast made in the Old Testament. The problem arises when he does not deliver Israelis from constant war. This raises a question about how to identify the real savior.

The tag of a Chosen Nation begun to refer to the fraternity of Christians when Jews rejected Christ. This failure led to the spread of good news to other nations and their incorporation into the plan of salvation. It is upon the Christians that all these prophesies will be fulfilled. The way to enjoy these prophesies is by believing in Jesus as the source of eternal life.
