Summary On Disability Hate Speech

Hate speech can be defined as oral expression that offends or insults group or a person based on characteristics such as, race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, or other traits. On the other hand, Disability hate speech is associated with people who are incapacitated. However, the affected individuals have their own ways of communicating or expressing themselves, their counterparts with no disabilities still segregate them.

The crime related to skin color and religious affiliations have been on decline, but the hate against the disabled has been hard to wipe out. This is because the only person who can detect hate is the victim who in this case is the disabled. Disability can be observed at a glance unlike religion and political views. This tagging on disabled individuals lays a lot of focus on their negativity and stains their strengths. This creates a bold line of separation between the two divides.

The law enforcers have been slow in administering discipline against those who spearhead disability hatred speech. This makes the victims lose hope against them and develop an attitude that the forces are neglecting them. This therefore mutilates their dream for justice. They end up apologizing for who they are.

Many organizations mushroomed to curb the many rising cases of incapacitated persons and fight for equality amongst the people and make sure that the representation of all underprivileged persons at all platforms including government offices, social media and entertainment. Every company whether owned by government or private sectors should reserve some chances for the disabled in their company employments. This will make every speaker to moderate his/her language and choice of words thus makes the relation of their employees concrete.

Their mission is to erase the negative stereotypes about disability that exist today, starting with language. The able people in society should not limit individuals ability to exercise free speech. When conflict arises about which is more important amongst them in either protecting community interests or safeguarding the rights of the individual a balance should be found that protects the rights of all people without limiting the freedom of the speaker.

The minority groups have become classified by negative properties that are harmful to them. The address may inflict a direct pain either physically or emotionally, hence use of such expressions repetitively escalates to a feeling of inferiority by this minority groups in the community. They may be affected mentally in some way that might be irreversible.

So many countries all over the world are trying their best by devising some ways to curb this kind of speech. One of them is creating societies in schools that involves members who are disabled in some way. This gives them a chance to contribute to activities in the society.

Vacancies in the top government offices are kept for the disabled individuals to allow them to air their views and contribute to nation building especially when their ideas are absorbed. Guiding and counseling centers are related to offer counseling to traumatized members . Many anti-hate speech institutions have been put in place handle the reported cases. Any statement that can provoke the public should be discarded before it reaches the recipients table.
