The Marine Corps league was chartered in 1937 by the congress and approved in the same year by President Roosevelt. There is a Marine 4-life and Injured Marine Support program that mentors and supports those who are transitioning.
Youth programs target the younger generation who will become future marines. Their activities include programs that instill the core values of marines in the young generation. High and elementary school students have the physical fitness program which runs alongside the Boy Scouts of America. There is a scholarship fund for those interested in education as well as the toys for tots initiative.

Veterans have a central organization with a national outlook to address their issues and others that are of national concern. Active marines are served under the Veterans Service Officer Program. There is an honor and fun society called the Military Order of the Devil Dogs which operates alongside MCL. It targets members who have been outstanding in their services through different ranks. An auxiliary wing that targets the needs and interests of marines and dependents also exists alongside MCL. Citizens are encouraged to show faith in American institutions as a way of demonstrating their patriotism.
